Related rights
Related rights are derived from copyright.
These are the rights of performers, producers of phonograms, broadcasters, producers of databases to the results of intellectual activity created by them.
For example, a composer has composed a song, he is the author of this song. Then some singer performed this song, he has related rights to his performance. However, before performing, the singer must necessarily obtain the consent of the author to perform his song by concluding a license agreement with him, otherwise the singer will violate the copyright of the composer. And the use of an object created with copyright infringement is prohibited by law!
Related rights, like copyright, include two groups of rights: personal non-property rights (for example, the right to be recognized as the author of a performance, the right to a name, the right to inviolability of a performance) and property rights - the exclusive right to a performance.
Main objects of related rights:
— performance and staging;
— phonograms;
— radio and television programs;
— database content.
The duration of related rights depends on their object:
Performances and productions : the duration of related rights is equal to the life of the author, but not less than 50 years from the date of performance.
Phonograms : 50 years from the date of recording or from the date of publication
Radio and television broadcasts : 50 years from the date of broadcast
Content of databases : 15 years from the date of creation or from the date of publication
