Before starting a patenting procedure, it is advisable to first carry out a patent search.
Patent search is a procedure for selecting documents that correspond to an inquiry according to given criteria from patent databases. The search is carried out with the help of information retrieval systems and only on materials that correspond to the topic or subject of the inquiry.
The main objectives of a patent search:
— examination of the uniqueness and novelty of the proposed solution (patent search for novelty );
— search of other areas or ways of applying the invention;
— obtaining information about the state of research and market development in the area of interest;
— a search for inventors or companies that have received patents for inventions in the same field (a patent clearance study);
— a search for possible patent licensees;
— a search for the closest in a technical meaning or in using of inventions to select analogues and prototypes.
Upon completion of the patent research, a patent search report with an examiner's conclusion is drawn up. All reports prepared by INEUREKA are issued in accordance with GOST R 15.011-96 or in the form agreed with a client.
